Job Description

The role of an HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) Coordinator is crucial in ensuring that an organization's health and safety practices align with both legal obligations and corporate policies. This position involves developing, implementing, and overseeing policies that minimize the risk of workplace accidents and environmental harm. The HSE Coordinator is a proactive and pivotal position that requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of regulatory compliance, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff. The incumbent will actively engage in training programs, audits, and assessments to foster a culture of safety and sustainability. In addition, the coordinator serves as a crucial advisor to management on ongoing improvements to occupational safety and environmental protocols.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies for adherence.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to educate employees on compliance and safety standards.
  • Monitor work processes and site conditions to reduce injury and harmful environmental impact risk.
  • Perform routine inspections and audits to ensure strict compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate emergency response drills and workplace safety initiatives effectively.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on safety audits, incident reports, and training activities.
  • Lead investigations into safety breaches and environmental incidents within the workplace.
  • Collaborate with management to address and resolve identified health and safety issues.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations concerning workplace safety.
  • Liaise with external agencies and comply with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement in the organization’s safety performance and culture.
  • Track and analyze accident and incident metrics, providing regular reports for management.


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of three years experience in an HSE Coordinator role or similar position.
  • Extensive knowledge of local, federal, and industry safety guidelines and regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct safety training sessions and workshops effectively.
  • Excellent analytical skills to assess safety risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with all employee levels.
  • Certification in safety management systems is highly desired, but not mandatory.
