Danat Al Emarat is a world-class specialty women’s and children’s hospital in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It offers advanced medical services across specialties including Neonatology, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Women’s Health. The hospital is one of the very few to encompass a dedicated Fetal Medicine Department along with a full-fledged Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the UAE. This has established Danat Al Emarat as a regional referral center for women with high-risk pregnancies, supported by its Level III NICU providing care for the most fragile newborns.

A Healthcare Aide in the Postnatal Department plays an essential role in supporting new mothers and their newborns during the critical recovery period following childbirth. Working under the supervision of registered nurses and midwives, the healthcare aide assists with basic patient care, ensuring comfort, safety, and hygiene for both mother and baby. This role involves helping mothers with mobility, breastfeeding support, personal care, and newborn handling, while also maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist mothers with personal care, hygiene, and mobility following delivery
  • Support basic newborn care including bathing, diapering, and maintaining hygiene
  • Assist with breastfeeding support under the guidance of nursing staff
  • Support early mobilization of postnatal patients, including post‑operative mothers
  • Assist in preparing patients for procedures and examinations
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment
  • Ensure proper cleaning and readiness of baby cots, equipment, and supplies
  • Maintain stocks and consumables for the unit
  • Assist with patient feeding, hydration, and comfort measures
  • Respond promptly to call bells and patient requests
  • Escort patients and newborns for investigations or transfers when required
  • Follow infection prevention and control protocols, including hand hygiene and PPE use
  • Dispose of clinical waste safely as per hospital policy
  • Provide emotional support to mothers and families, ensuring privacy and dignity
  • Communicate effectively with patients and the multidisciplinary team
  • Attend mandatory training and maintain required clinical competencies

Qualifications

  • Preferred certified nursing assistant course
  • Experience in inpatient/gynaecology/labour & delivery
