Job Description

As a Health and Safety Executive, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the overall safety and well-being of employees within our organization. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, implement, and maintain effective health and safety policies that adhere to legal standards and foster a culture of safety awareness. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards, advocating for preventive measures to mitigate risks. You will also serve as a point of contact for employees regarding health and safety concerns while managing incident investigations and ensuring appropriate corrective actions are taken. Your expertise will drive continuous improvement in our safety practices, protect company assets, and enhance operational efficiency.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with legal regulations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Collaborate with departmental heads to ensure safety standards are maintained across all operations.
  • Lead health and safety training programs to educate employees on safety practices and protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, and incidents for reporting purposes.
  • Ensure that safety equipment is appropriately used, maintained, and readily available to all staff.
  • Monitor compliance with health and safety policies and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Advise management on all aspects related to occupational health and safety compliance.
  • Facilitate regular health and safety meetings and integrate feedback into action plans.
  • Stay up-to-date with current legislation and professional development for continuous improvement.
  • Foster a culture of safety and promote open communication of safety issues among employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a health and safety role, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance standards at the national level.
  • Proven ability to conduct hazard assessments and develop effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others positively.
  • Certification in health and safety management such as NEBOSH or OSHA is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in using safety management software for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
