Job Description

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) plays a critical role in ensuring the wellbeing and safety of employees across various industries. This position demands a proactive and systematic approach to managing health and safety programs that align with legal and company regulations. As an HSE, you will be tasked with developing, implementing, and overseeing health and safety policies, as well as conducting assessments to ensure compliance with statutory requirements. A key part of the role involves educating and advising management and staff on the best practices to minimize health risks and promote a safe workplace environment. The ideal candidate is someone who is detail-oriented, has strong communication skills, and possesses significant knowledge of health and safety regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures for the organization.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Identify potential health and safety risks and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and provide comprehensive reports on findings.
  • Advise management and staff on legal and company health and safety standards.
  • Coordinate training sessions and workshops to promote a safety-first environment.
  • Monitor implementation of corrective actions following health and safety audits.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all health and safety matters.
  • Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior management.
  • Ensure all safety-related equipment and evacuation plans are up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with external consultants for complex safety issues and compliance checks.
  • Stay updated on the latest health and safety regulations and industry trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in a health and safety role.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage safety initiatives.
  • Certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or CSP are highly desirable.
  • Ability to conduct thorough safety audits and report preparation.
