Job Description

As a strategic technology leader within Etihad Airways, you will define and execute the vision for software engineering across all digital and guest-facing platforms. This role is pivotal in driving digital transformation, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to deliver exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence. You will lead modernization initiatives, establish global standards, and ensure alignment with the airlines strategic objectives.

Accountabilities

• Provide visionary leadership for software engineering, setting strategic direction for digital transformation and technology modernization across airline operations.
• Champion adoption of cloud-native architectures, AI/ML, automation, and DevSecOps practices to accelerate delivery and enhance scalability.
• Establish and govern enterprise-wide digital engineering standards, frameworks, and best practices tailored to aviation industry needs.
• Drive development and implementation of innovative digital solutions that elevate guest experience and operational efficiency.
• Build and nurture high-performing, cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
• Oversee large-scale digital programs ensuring alignment with organizational strategy, budget optimization, and measurable outcomes.
• Engage with senior stakeholders to influence digital strategy, investment decisions, and technology roadmaps.
• Lead risk management and compliance for digital platforms, ensuring robust security, data privacy, and regulatory adherence.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, partnerships, and platforms to maintain competitive advantage in the airline industry.
  
  

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive leadership experience in software engineering, digital transformation, and technology strategy within large, complex organizations.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• Proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale digital solutions, leading technology modernization, and driving innovation.
• Deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, API management, AI/ML, and automation.
• Demonstrated ability to influence C-level executives and shape organizational digital strategy.
• Strong experience in building and scaling global engineering teams, managing multi-million dollar budgets, and delivering measurable business impact.
