Job Overview

Al Rabeeh Academy is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Mathematics to join our dynamic, high-performing team from August 2026.

As Head of Maths in an international British curriculum school, you will play a pivotal leadership role in driving high-quality teaching and learning across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, including GCSE and A Level Mathematics. You will lead, inspire, and develop the Mathematics team, ensuring consistently strong outcomes through high expectations, effective curriculum design, and excellent classroom practice.

You will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of the department, supporting and coaching staff, and embedding engaging, concept-driven teaching that develops students’ analytical thinking and problem-solving skills. Through strong leadership and collaboration, you will foster a positive, inclusive learning environment where both students and teachers can thrive and achieve their full potential.

What Were Looking For

We are seeking a Head of Maths who can:

• Lead and deliver high-quality, engaging Mathematics teaching in line with the British Curriculum, with the ability to teach and oversee provision up to GCSE and A Level.
• Model and promote strong analytical, problem-solving, and numeracy skills, ensuring teaching across the department is creative, challenging, and effective.
• Use a range of formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor, track, and improve student progress and attainment across all key stages.
• Drive curriculum planning, sequencing, and development, ensuring coherence, progression, and alignment with examination requirements.
• Lead, coach, and support members of the Mathematics department, promoting high standards of teaching, learning, and professional practice.
• Support the academic and pastoral well-being of students, embedding the school’s values, routines, and high expectations across the department.
• Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers, communicating clearly about curriculum intent, student progress, and next steps.
• Contribute actively to school improvement initiatives, professional development, and wider whole-school life.
  
  

Qualifications And Experience

Applicants must:

• Be a fluent English speaker
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant subject with PGCE / QTS (or equivalent teaching qualification).
• Experience teaching the English National Curriculum, preferably in an international setting.
• Strong classroom management skills and commitment to student wellbeing.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills.
