We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Head of Commodities Trading to lead our commodities trading business, develop innovative solutions, manage trading activities across global commodity markets, and contribute to the continued growth of the Bank's Treasury and Investments franchise.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a seasoned commodities professional who combines strong market expertise with disciplined risk management and a proven ability to generate sustainable revenue growth.

The Opportunity

As Head of Commodities Trading, you will be responsible for defining and executing ADCB's commodity trading strategy, overseeing transaction structuring and execution, managing trading risks, and identifying market opportunities across commodity products and solutions.

You will work closely with Treasury Sales, Structuring, Coverage teams, and other key stakeholders to deliver client-focused solutions while ensuring adherence to the Bank's risk appetite, governance framework, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute ADCB's commodity trading strategy and operating framework.
• Drive business growth and revenue generation through effective market positioning and trading activities.
• Identify emerging market trends, opportunities, and risks to support strategic decision-making.

Trading & Risk Management

• Lead the pricing, structuring, execution, and ongoing management of commodity transactions.
• Monitor trading positions, market exposures, and portfolio performance to optimise risk-adjusted returns.
• Establish and maintain robust risk management practices, ensuring adherence to approved limits and controls.
• Implement appropriate hedging strategies and corrective actions where required.

Product Development & Structuring

• Partner with Treasury Sales and Structuring teams to design and deliver innovative commodity solutions.
• Ensure products remain competitive, client-centric, and aligned with evolving market requirements.
• Support the development of new capabilities and solutions across the commodities platform.

Market Intelligence

• Maintain deep insight into global commodity markets, industry developments, and macroeconomic trends.
• Conduct due diligence, market analysis, and ongoing monitoring of commodity trading opportunities.
• Provide market intelligence and strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

• Lead, mentor, and develop team members to maximise performance and engagement.
• Build strong relationships across Treasury, Risk, Operations, Finance, and other internal stakeholders.
• Represent the commodities function internally and externally, fostering strategic partnerships and business opportunities.

What We're Looking For

Experience

• Minimum 9 years of experience within commodities trading, financial markets, or treasury environments.
• Demonstrated experience managing commodity trading portfolios and delivering risk-adjusted profitability.
• Strong understanding of commodity derivatives, structured solutions, hedging strategies, and market risk management.
• Experience operating within a regulated banking or financial services environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
• Advanced postgraduate qualification or relevant industry certification is advantageous.

Technical Expertise

• Deep knowledge of commodities markets, financial instruments, treasury operations, and capital markets.
• Strong understanding of market, liquidity, and counterparty risk management practices.
• Familiarity with international trading environments, cross-border transactions, accounting standards, and regulatory frameworks.
• Experience with treasury management systems, trading platforms, and financial analytical tools.
