Wood is currently recruiting for a Graduate Flow Assurance Engineer to join our Consulting team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects while developing your skills and gaining valuable industry experience. Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based full time at our office in Abu Dhabi.

The Key Objectives For This Role Are

  • Graduate level understanding of Engineering practices, design methods and calculations
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret technical information applicable to their discipline of engineering

  • Graduate level of competence in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution
  • Graduate level of knowledge of regulatory framework and associated legislation.

  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and prepare applicable technical information and suggest design changes to ensure functional and cost effective results

  • Ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports
  • Good level of general computer literacy and basic familiarity with some relevant specialist engineering software

Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates a graduate‑level understanding of core flow assurance engineering principles, design practices, methodologies, and basic calculations related to multiphase flow, hydrate management, flow regimes, and thermal hydraulic behavior.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply technical data and documentation relevant to flow assurance studies, including P&IDs, line sizing data, operating conditions, and basis of design documents.
  • Applies theoretical knowledge in practical engineering contexts, supporting flow assurance analyses and contributing to design and operational decision‑making under supervision.
  • Exhibits graduate‑level competence in the application of engineering standards, company processes, and procedures relevant to flow assurance and project execution.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of the regulatory framework and applicable industry legislation, and how these influence flow assurance design and operational activities.
  • Demonstrates developing competence within the flow assurance discipline while executing assigned tasks, such as supporting steady‑state and transient flow analyses, identifying flow risks, and assisting in mitigation strategies.
  • Maintains graduate‑level awareness of industry practices, emerging technologies, and digital tools relevant to flow assurance, with early exposure to real project or operational environments.
  • Ability to prepare, interpret, and review technical outputs, including calculations, reports, and summaries, and to suggest practical and cost‑effective design improvements under guidance.
  • Demonstrates awareness of company policies, procedures, and HSE requirements that impact flow assurance activities and project execution.
  • Capable of preparing clear, accurate, and well‑structured written communications, including technical notes, calculation summaries, and reports suitable for internal review.
  • Displays good general computer literacy and basic familiarity with relevant flow assurance and engineering software tools (e.g., OLGA, PIPESIM, HYSYS, or similar), with a willingness to develop further proficiency.

Expected

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant experience in flow assurance, production engineering, process engineering, or related oil & gas engineering roles, including internships, graduate programs, or project‑based experience.
  • Fundamental academic knowledge of flow assurance concepts, including multiphase flow, fluid properties, hydrate formation, wax and asphaltene deposition, flow regimes, corrosion, erosion, and thermal analysis.
  • Basic understanding of oil and gas production systems, including pipelines, subsea systems, topsides facilities, and operating philosophies.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and recommended practices (e.g., API, ISO, ASME) relevant to flow assurance and offshore/onshore hydrocarbon operations.
  • Awareness of regulatory and HSE requirements applicable to engineering design and operations within the energy sector.
  • Exposure to or basic working knowledge of flow assurance and process simulation software tools such as OLGA, PIPESIM, HYSYS, Aspen, MATLAB, or equivalent (academic or professional use).
  • Good analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to apply engineering fundamentals to practical engineering challenges under supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for calculations, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn, develop technical competence, and work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
