Job Description

A General Accountant plays a vital role in the financial stability and integrity of an organization. Tasked with managing and verifying financial transactions, a General Accountant ensures that bookkeeping and auditing processes comply with industry standards and regulations. This role requires a keen eye for detail, as the accountant will prepare periodic financial reports, maintain ledgers, and reconcile accounts. Additionally, they must possess strong analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to management. By maintaining accurate financial records, the General Accountant supports strategic decision-making and contributes to the organization's overall fiscal health.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports for management review.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of accounts, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts for organizational planning.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and laws.
  • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends and discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to prepare for audits and reviews.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary documentation.
  • Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency.
  • Advise management on cost-reduction opportunities and financial performance improvements.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Collaborate with other departments to streamline accounting operations and support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field required.
  • Proven experience as a General Accountant or in a similar role is essential.
  • Strong proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel is necessary.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and best practices in the field.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate and convey financial information.
