Job Description

The General Accountant is a critical role that ensures the financial health and stability of an organization. This position requires a meticulous and detail-oriented individual dedicated to managing day-to-day financial operations. A successful General Accountant will possess strong analytical skills and proficiency in accounting software to effectively interpret and report on financial data. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, the General Accountant plays an essential role in maintaining accurate financial records and supports the management team in making informed financial decisions. This role requires a solid understanding of accounting principles, strong organizational skills, and a proactive approach to improving financial processes.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports, and statements as required.
  • Handle general ledger functions such as account reconciliation and analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and governmental regulations in financial documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts for strategic planning.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures for efficiency.
  • Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate audit processes and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Analyze financial information to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate with different departments to streamline accounting processes and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable to support cash flow management.
  • Prepare tax returns and ensure timely and accurate tax filings to avoid penalties.
  • Assist in financial audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance, highlighting issues for corrective action.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience as an accountant or a similar role.
  • Proficiency in major accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration.
