Job Description

The Food Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality within an organization. This professional is responsible for implementing and managing food safety programs and ensuring compliance with relevant health regulations. The coordinator works closely with various departments, including production, quality assurance, and procurement, to facilitate smooth operations and optimal adherence to food safety protocols. A key part of the role is conducting regular audits and inspections, thereby identifying and mitigating potential risks before they impact food safety. By closely monitoring food handling practices and staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and regulations, the Food Safety Coordinator ensures that all food products are safe for consumption.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive food safety and quality management systems.
  • Conduct regular food safety audits and inspections within the facility.
  • Train staff on food safety practices and procedures to ensure compliance.
  • Monitor food handling activities to maintain a hygienic and safe environment.
  • Manage the documentation of food safety protocols and procedural reports.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure food safety standards are consistently met.
  • Investigate and address food safety incidents and customer complaints efficiently.
  • Stay informed on regulatory changes and ensure compliance with new requirements.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to streamline inspection activities.
  • Implement corrective actions in cases of non-compliance with safety standards.
  • Facilitate risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential food safety hazards.
  • Develop emergency response plans for food safety-related incidents or recalls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in food safety or quality assurance.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Proficient in using food safety management software and tools effectively.
  • Effective communication and training skills to work with diverse teams.
  • Certification in food safety, such as HACCP or ServSafe, is preferred.
