Job Description

The Food Safety Coordinator is a pivotal role within our organization, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality across all processes. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining food safety programs in compliance with local, national, and international standards. The individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to cultivate a culture of food safety and drive continuous improvement initiatives within the food safety management system. With a keen eye for detail and strong leadership abilities, the Food Safety Coordinator plays a critical role in managing audits, dealing with non-conformances, and ensuring corrective actions are effectively implemented. This position requires someone who is enthusiastic about food safety, comfortable working in fast-paced environments, and capable of handling multiple tasks concurrently.


Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain food safety programs and policies in accordance with regulations.
  • Conduct internal audits and inspections to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Collaborate with production teams to establish food safety standards in operational procedures.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure alignment with safety and quality standards.
  • Lead investigations into food safety incidents and oversee corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on local, national, and international food safety regulations.
  • Prepare and present food safety reports to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Oversee training programs to enhance food safety awareness throughout the organization.
  • Monitor and analyze food safety data and trends for continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate third-party audits and interface with regulatory bodies as required.
  • Ensure all documentation and record-keeping meets regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Support the development and testing of new products from a food safety perspective.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in food safety or quality assurance roles in the food industry.
  • Deep understanding of food safety standards, such as HACCP, FSMA, and ISO 22000.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw conclusions effectively.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Certification in food safety management systems or related programs is preferred.
  • Proficiency using food safety software and Microsoft Office Suite is essential.
