Job Description

The Food Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and quality of food products. This position is responsible for implementing and managing food safety programs within a food production facility, ensuring compliance with government regulations and industry standards. The Food Safety Coordinator engages with team members across various departments to educate and promote best practices in hygiene, food handling, and quality control. By conducting regular audits and monitoring food safety systems, the coordinator aids in identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement food safety and quality assurance programs and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal food safety regulations and standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections of the facility to assess food safety operations.
  • Collaborate with departments to resolve any food safety issues or concerns promptly.
  • Train team members on best practices for food safety and hygiene adherence.
  • Monitor food safety performance metrics and develop improvement strategies as required.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure quality and safety of raw materials and products.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of any food-related incidents or complaints.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to food safety programs and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to food safety and quality systems.
  • Report on the status of the food safety system to senior management regularly.
  • Stay updated on new regulations and industry trends impacting food safety practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a food safety-related position is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and other food safety regulations required.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct detailed investigations.
  • Proven experience in conducting audits and implementing corrective actions.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with team members and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
