Job Description

The Food Safety Coordinator is an integral role within the food production and distribution sector, ensuring that all food safety protocols and regulations are strictly adhered to. This position involves meticulously monitoring the food handling processes, from the initial sourcing of raw materials to the final product delivery, to minimize risks associated with foodborne illnesses. As a liaison between different departments, the Food Safety Coordinator works to implement safety programs, conduct routine inspections, and provide necessary training to staff, ensuring that the company's food safety standards meet both legal requirements and industry best practices. Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive food safety programs aligning with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections to identify potential food safety hazards and compliance issues.
  • Coordinate with supply chain teams to verify safe sourcing and handling of raw materials.
  • Lead internal audits and assist in external audits to ensure food safety compliance.
  • Provide necessary training and resources to staff on updated food safety practices and procedures.
  • Investigate food safety incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Facilitate communication between departments to uphold food safety and quality standards.
  • Develop emergency response protocols for potential food safety crises or violations.
  • Monitor and document food safety performance metrics for continuous improvement efforts.
  • Stay informed on emerging food safety trends and integrate best practices into operations.
  • Prepare detailed reports for management on food safety activities and program enhancements.
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with evolving food safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in food safety management or coordination.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, such as HACCP, GMPs, and FSMA.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively train staff and collaborate with departments.
  • Detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capability to develop and maintain comprehensive food safety documentation and reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and food safety management software platforms.
