Job Description

As a Fleet Manager, you will be the driving force behind our transportation operations. You'll take the wheel in managing our fleet of vehicles to ensure optimal efficiency, safety, and compliance with all transport regulations. Your role will involve strategizing cost-effective ways to maintain and improve fleet performance while minimizing downtime and expenses. Additionally, as a Fleet Manager, you will be responsible for supervising maintenance and repair activities, managing vendor relationships, and maintaining thorough records. You will also lead efforts in environmental conservation and sustainability initiatives within the fleet. A successful Fleet Manager is analytical, a strong communicator, and possesses excellent problem-solving skills, vital for navigating the challenges that come with managing a large and diverse fleet.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily vehicle operations to ensure maximum fleet utilization and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement maintenance procedures to prolong vehicle longevity and safety.
  • Manage the fleet budget, including tracking expenses and implementing cost-reduction strategies.
  • Ensure all fleet operations comply with DOT regulations and safety standards.
  • Analyze fleet performance data to enhance operational productivity and reduce costs.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team for scheduling repairs and servicing of vehicles.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts for vehicle leasing, maintenance, and repair services.
  • Keep accurate records of vehicle registrations, licenses, and maintenance for auditing purposes.
  • Implement fleet management software to monitor fleet activity and track performance metrics.
  • Train and supervise drivers to ensure adherence to safety protocols and customer service standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of fleet operations with company goals.
  • Lead sustainability initiatives to reduce fleet emissions and environmental impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fleet management or transport operations.
  • Strong knowledge of fleet management software and vehicle tracking systems.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and implement cost-effective strategies.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Solid understanding of DOT regulations and vehicle safety standards.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage teams and drive process improvements.
