About The Job

Based at the Emirates palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Leisure Department, Fitness Centre Attendant is responsible for providing Guest Relation services in the context of the recreation environment, specifically regarding the Health and Fitness operation. Ensures all guests are greeted and treated in accordance with LQA standards. Provides information relating to all Beach Club services/activities. The Fitness Centre Attendant reports to the Fitness Supervisor.

As Fitness Centre Attendant, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Reports directly to and communicates with the Fitness Instructor on all pertinent matters affecting the overall health & fitness operation.
  • On a daily basis takes responsibility for the safe operation of the Fitness Suites in accordance with the Normal Operating Procedure (NOP) and Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
  • Recognizes and acknowledges all guests & members encouraging a friendly, welcoming and social atmosphere, in accordance with LQA standards.
  • Provides supervision and basic assistance for all Fitness Suite users, including basic inductions detailing correct usage of machines.
  • Be confident, flexible, safety minded, enthusiastic at all times and possess good spoken English skills. Must have a friendly nature and be able to smile and interact with an international clientele base.
  • Communicates efficiently with other members of the Fitness Team regarding all matters, including specific training requests/needs of guests/members, for attention of the qualified Fitness Instructors.
  • Under the guidance of the Fitness Instructor helps, produces, operates and constantly updates the current departmental SOP’s in so far as they affect the work of the Fitness Team.
  • Be fully conversant with the departmental NOP/EAP and ensures constant compliance with its wording.
  • Performs daily recorded checks on all fitness equipment, cleanliness, and issues.
  • Reports all injuries, accidents/incidents, and maintenance issues to the Assistant Recreation Manager immediately.
  • Gains in depth knowledge of entire recreation operation and be proactive in suggesting new ideas.

  • Previous experience in a high volume internationally recognized luxury hotel chain and a few years in a similar position is required
  • Outgoing personality with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand guest needs and expectations and to deliver superior customer service
