Job Description

As a Fire Fighting Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of buildings and their occupants by maintaining and installing fire safety equipment and systems. You will be responsible for performing inspections, troubleshooting, and conducting repairs on various fire protection systems, including sprinklers, extinguishers, alarms, and emergency exit lighting. Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of all fire safety equipment and systems.
  • Install and repair sprinklers, fire alarms, and other fire protection devices.
  • Perform routine maintenance checks to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fire alarm systems and control panels.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, testing, and repairs for compliance purposes.
  • Collaborate with safety officers to advise on fire safety protocols and improvements.
  • Respond to emergency calls and quickly address any fire safety concerns or malfunctions.
  • Test and service emergency lighting and exit signage for functionality and compliance.
  • Provide training and demonstrations on the use of fire extinguishers and safety systems.
  • Ensure all fire extinguishers are charged and placed in accessible locations as required.
  • Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and updates in fire safety protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members regarding fire safety issues and solutions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree in fire safety is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in fire safety equipment maintenance or installation.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety codes, standards, and regulations applicable to the industry.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for fire system testing and repairs.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in high-pressure situations.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites as needed.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information to clients and colleagues.
