Job Description

The Financial Controller is a vital part of the finance team and plays a critical role in the financial management and oversight of an organization. This role typically involves responsibility for the company’s financial health by ensuring accurate accounting, compliance with regulations, preparing financial reports, and developing financial strategies. You will work across departments to analyze financial data, predict future forecasts as well as ensuring internal controls are upheld to safeguard company assets. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and a solid understanding of accounting principles. The prospective Financial Controller should possess strong leadership and communication skills to liaise effectively with stakeholders at various levels.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure.
  • Manage the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.
  • Evaluate the organization’s financial performance and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Develop and implement financial processes and internal controls to safeguard assets.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax and financial regulations and legislation.
  • Prepare and present accurate, timely, and meaningful reports to top management.
  • Collaborate with auditors for periodical audits and ensure timely resolution of audit issues.
  • Forecast financial trends and analyze performance against the forecasted budget.
  • Drive the budgeting process and monitor budget performance throughout the fiscal year.
  • Support management in the decision-making process with financial data and analysis.
  • Optimize financial processes for efficiency and effectiveness across the organization.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of finance professionals for optimal performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required.
  • Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, with a proven management track record.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting standards like GAAP or IFRS.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to prepare detailed financial reports.
  • Proficient in financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills to influence and drive financial strategy.
