Role summary

Owns the books, the cash, the payroll, and the management reporting. Keeps the business solvent, compliant, and the directors informed.

Key responsibilities

•        Run day-to-day bookkeeping, AP/AR, and bank reconciliation.

•        Process monthly payroll including overtime calculation and WPS (Wage Protection System) submission.

•        Manage VAT filing (5% UAE VAT) quarterly with FTA.

•        Manage Corporate Tax filing (9% UAE CT for profits above AED 375k) annually.

•        Produce monthly management accounts within 10 working days of month-end.

•        Manage cashflow; flag risks at least 8 weeks ahead.

•        Own the relationship with external auditors, accountants, and the bank.

•        Support PMs with job-level P&L reporting.

•        Manage equipment financing arrangements (leases, asset finance).

•        Own insurance renewals: equipment, public liability, employer's liability, professional indemnity, workmen's compensation.

•        Calculate and provision end-of-service gratuity for all expat staff.

Qualifications & experience

•        Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CMA, or equivalent) or strong QBE.

•        5+ years in finance, ideally with exposure to project-based or rental businesses.

•        UAE experience strongly preferred: VAT, Corporate Tax, WPS, gratuity calculations.

•        Expert on the company's accounting platform (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Tally).

•        Strong Excel; comfortable building and stress-testing financial models.

KPIs

•        Days sales outstanding (DSO) — target <60 days

•        Cashflow forecast accuracy

•        Month-end close timeliness (within 10 working days)

•        Clean audit

•        100% on-time VAT and CT filings

•        WPS compliance — zero MOHRE penalties
