Job Purpose
Perform process engineering duties. Conduct studies at the Site level and prepare the necessary reports.
Troubleshoot plant operational problems, test, and participate in HAZOP, SIL and HAZID studies to ensure a
smooth running of the Plant’s operations.
Develop tools to monitor the Plant’s process and apply computer simulation models and other advanced
techniques to contribute in ensuring the business profitability.
Key Accountabilities
Process Engineering
- Study and analyze the relevant reports which include, but not limited to, laboratory test reports, standard
log sheets, and other daily operating activity reports to monitor the process engineering activities’ status.
Highlight abnormalities and suggest corrective actions.
- Collect the monthly Plant’s production and operating data to evaluate the units’ efficiencies with regard
to chemicals and energy consumption. Prepare a detailed report to facilitate decision making.
- Study the required modifications of technical nature in order to meet variations in production plans
and/or a varying feedstock.
- Organize performance test runs for the analysis of the unit’s performance and establish optimum
operating parameters to identify process bottlenecks for increasing the throughput.
- Participate in HAZOP, SIL and HAZID studies pertaining to proposed modifications.
- Develop tools for the Plants process monitoring and yield prediction. Apply computer simulation models
and other advanced techniques to achieve optimum Plant’s performance.
- Participate in root cause analysis studies and incident investigations; and prepare the necessary reports
to enable corrective actions and the preparation/implementation of mitigation plans.
- Participate in risk assessments for the proposed modifications.
- Provide technical services and assistance to other areas such as Instrumentation, Maintenance, and
Inspection as required.
- Provide process engineering support for the Plant’s Alarm Management System (AMS), Alarm
Rationalization meetings and Master Alarm Database update projects.
- Provide process engineering support for the implementation, monitoring, revamping, and effective
utilization of Advanced Process Control (APC).
- Provide process engineering support for the Plant’s Control Loop Performance Monitoring (CLPM)
System and for the effective performance and utilization of the Plant’s DCS Controllers.
- Provide process engineering support for the Plant’s Real Time Optimization (RTO) for the effective
design, engineering, implementation, maintenance support and effective utilization of high-end software
to ensure the business profitability.
- Provide process engineering support for automating, monitoring, and reporting the process safety KPIs.
- Provide process engineering support to on-going projects from the conceptualization until the
implementation phase.
- Review and provide comments and feedback on process engineering documents, drawings and P&ID'S
to ensure the correctness of the drawings and their conformity with the set standards.
- Conduct feasibility and optimization studies, at the Site level, to facilitate decision making in applying
cost-efficient approaches.
- Monitor and analyse the energy performance, at the unit level, and initiate actions for improvement, if
required.
- Carryout project deliverables’ reviews pertaining to new and ongoing major projects. Review the Plant’s
modifications and improvement studies as required.
