Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and innovative Engineer - Material to join our dynamic team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this role, you will be responsible for the selection, specification, and optimization of materials for industrial and materials handling projects. You will work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to ensure that material choices meet project requirements, performance standards, and cost objectives. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to complex engineering projects while developing your expertise in material science and industrial applications.

  • Conduct material analysis, selection, and specification for industrial projects, including materials handling systems, structural components, and heavy industrial applications
  • Develop and maintain material specifications, technical datasheets, and documentation in compliance with applicable codes and industry standards
  • Perform material testing, quality control assessments, and failure analysis to ensure compliance with project requirements and performance criteria
  • Collaborate with structural, mechanical, and process engineering teams to optimize material choices for cost-effectiveness, durability, and performance
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to source materials, evaluate alternatives, and manage material procurement processes
  • Analyze material properties, behavior, and performance characteristics using industry-standard tools and modeling software
  • Prepare detailed material reports, calculations, and technical documentation for design reviews and project deliverables
  • Participate in design reviews, constructability assessments, and project coordination meetings to provide material engineering expertise
  • Manage material testing schedules, quality assurance procedures, and revision control of technical outputs
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve material-related challenges
  • Stay current with industry developments, emerging materials, and best practices in material engineering
  • Ensure all material selections and specifications align with project specifications, budget constraints, and sustainability objectives

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in materials engineering, materials selection, or materials handling projects within the industrial sector
  • Advanced proficiency in design and analysis software (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, or equivalent modeling tools)
  • Strong knowledge of material properties, behavior, and performance characteristics across various material types (metals, composites, polymers, ceramics)
  • Demonstrated experience with material testing procedures, quality control protocols, and compliance with industry standards and codes
  • Proven ability to develop material specifications and technical documentation with high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience in supplier coordination, vendor management, and material procurement processes
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot material-related issues independently
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams and with external stakeholders
  • Proficiency in cost analysis and material optimization to support project budgeting and efficiency goals
  • Professional Engineer registration (ECSA, PEng, or equivalent professional body) is advantageous
  • Experience with materials handling systems, heavy industrial projects, or mining applications is preferred
