Engineer GIS

JOB PURPOSE:

Provides professional support and assistance with the development of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) database designs, develops and builds databases from imagery and cartographic/digital sources. Performs basic and advanced processing tasks using network modeling systems regarding the natural gas network design / analysis, builds, modifies and updates models of natural gas networks and associated items using natural gas network design / analysis tools in cost- effective manner. To develop, manage and maintain relevant coordination procedures in line with best industry practices based on approved Project applicable standards. Provide necessary coordination support to ensure completion of the Natural Gas Distribution Projects on time.

Job Specific Accountabilities

• Provides professional support to develop network modelling database designs, builds databases from imagery and cartographic/digital sources.
• Performs basic and advanced processing tasks using network modeling tools and other modeling products and extensions e.g. ArcGIS and SynerGEE. Retrieves input data and produces maps upon request.
• Performs database records entry and updates for natural gas networks design /analysis/reinforcements/ new connected customers / alterations. Establishes and modify natural gas network design model databases (SynerGEE).
• Reviews all data entry to network modeling systems regarding the natural gas network design / analysis
• Operates Company Information Technology (IT) systems including Asset Database.
• Operates and administer the entry and retrieval processes of network modeling systems and verify inputs from third parties. Retrieve data from network modeling systems and administer the daily requirements for records and archiving.
• Checks and maintain contractors records submissions. Provides network records and data as required.
• Administrates and maintains all As Built drawings / records for natural gas network design modelling tools, all natural gas network modeling records.
• Participates in the natural gas distribution network design using supplied software and produces budgets preparation packages.
• Ensures that all preformed activities are in compliance with Company Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies and procedures at all times.
• Carries out their duties in accordance with specifications and Company policies and regulations.
• Develops, manage and maintain the Natural Gas Division External coordination Procedures especially with , developers , government and other Utilities Authorities taking into Consideration Company policies and in compliance with ADNOC Group guidelines.
• Participate in interface engineering activities performed by the PMT/PMC discipline engineers and the EPC contractors. Work closely with the PMT/PMC project engineers to identify interface requirements.
• Attends and participates in meetings as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
  
  

• Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
• Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
  
  

• Provide input for preparation of the Department/ Section budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver Section objectives.
• Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
  
  

• Implement approved Department / Section policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the Department / Section’s work programs in line with Company and International standards.
• Comply with all applicable legislation and legal regulations.
  
  

• Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the Department / Section in line with the Company Performance framework.
  
  

• Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
• Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best Industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
  
  

• Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices
  
  

• Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company Management
  
  

• Regular Contact with Line Mamnager, peer and other departments of ADNOC City Gas.
• Regular contact with his counterparts in ADNOC City Gas on related matters.
• Occasional contact with his counterparts in ADNOC Group Companies to coordinate related activities and share best practices.
  
  

• Frequent contact with Government authorities, Utilities organizations, private sector contractors and suppliers.
• Regular contacts Projects & engineering consultants and agencies.
