Elevated Structures Expert (Metro, High Speed Rail)

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Parsons is seeking an experienced Elevated Structures Expert to be an integral part of an important PMC project and lead the design, review, and construction support of elevated infrastructure for High-Speed Rail projects. The role will serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for viaducts, elevated stations, guideways, rail bridges, and precast segmental structures, providing technical oversight and ensuring successful project delivery throughout the lifecycle. Solid structural rail bridge design background, extensive and diversified technical knowledge of principles and practices in rail bridge construction coupled with strong management skills will be crucial for the success in this role.

What You'll Be Doing

Technical Leadership

• Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for elevated rail structures throughout all project phases from concept development through detailed design, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Lead the design review and technical evaluation of elevated viaducts, guideways, stations, bridge structures, and associated civil works.
• Provide expert advice on structural systems selection, value engineering, durability, maintainability, and lifecycle optimization.
• Develop and review structural design criteria, specifications, methodologies, and engineering standards.
  
  
  

Design Management

• Review and approve structural calculations, reports, drawings, BIM models, and construction documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable international standards including Eurocodes, AASHTO, AREMA, UIC, EN Standards, BS Standards, and local authority requirements.
• Validate structural analysis models for static, dynamic, seismic, wind, fatigue, and serviceability assessments.
• Evaluate constructability and erection methodologies for precast segmental and cast-in-situ structures.
• Ensure professional speedy and courteous responses to all project related enquiries from Clients and Authorities.
• Successfully develops and maintains meaningful relationships with clients.
• Available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
  
  
  

Construction Support

• Provide expert technical guidance during construction and installation activities.
• Review temporary works, launching methodologies, lifting plans, and construction staging proposals.
• Support the resolution of site engineering issues, non-conformance reports, technical queries, and design changes.
• Witness critical construction activities and conduct technical inspections where required.
  
  
  

Interface & Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including track, systems, architecture, geotechnical, tunneling, utilities, and operations teams.
• Interface with clients, independent safety assessors, operators, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
• Participate in technical workshops, design reviews, risk assessments, and value engineering sessions.
  
  
  

Quality & Safety

• Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, availability, maintainability, and durability requirements (RAMS).
• Support hazard identification, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
• Promote engineering excellence and adherence to Parsons' quality management procedures.
  
  
  

What Required Skills You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Professional registration (PE, CEng, or equivalent) is required.
• Minimum 15 years of related design and construction work experience in structural engineering, including 10+ years in metro, rail, or high-speed rail projects.
• Proven experience in elevated viaducts, rail bridges, elevated stations, and precast segmental structures.
• Strong knowledge of railway structural design standards, seismic design, dynamic analysis, and prestressed concrete structures.
• Experience with structural analysis software such as MIDAS Civil, RM Bridge, CSI Bridge, SAP2000, or SOFiSTiK.
• Excellent technical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
