Job Description

An Electrical Technician (14A26) plays a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems within industrial and commercial environments. This position requires a deep understanding of electrical theory and the practical application of electrical systems and components. Technicians are responsible for ensuring that electrical systems are installed safely and operate efficiently, minimizing downtime due to electrical failures. Working under the guidance of electrical engineers and supervisors, the Electrical Technician must be thorough in their approach, capable of reading and interpreting blueprints, and committed to maintaining high safety standards. This role may involve working with a variety of systems, including lighting, control panels, and complex machinery, making it essential for a technician to be adaptable and proficient in troubleshooting.


Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems.
  • Read technical diagrams and blueprints to understand work instructions.
  • Perform general electrical maintenance on electrical panels and systems.
  • Inspect transformers and circuit breakers to ensure functionality.
  • Use testing devices to identify electrical problems and solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical malfunctions.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other team members to complete projects efficiently.
  • Document and report detailed data on electrical systems and repairs.
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure proper working condition.
  • Discuss project timelines with supervisors and provide time estimates.
  • Follow established safety protocols and wear protective equipment on site.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an electrical technician.
  • Valid electrician’s license or certificate preferred in relevant field.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical components, systems, and tools.
  • Ability to understand technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail required.
  • Willingness to continue education on new technologies and standards.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with the team.
  • Physical fitness is necessary for lifting and working on site.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
