Draughtsman

Role Purpose

Prepare, update, and coordinate electrical shop drawings and as-built drawings for infrastructure works (e.g., street lighting, roadway power, ELV/ICT ducting, junction boxes, feeder pillars, earthing/grounding, utility interfaces) in accordance with project requirements, authority standards, and consultant approvals.

Key Accountabilities

• Prepare Infrastructure projects electrical (MV, LV and Street Lighting) drawings (layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, Load Schedule, and Voltage Drop Calculations) for infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge about TAQA Distribution Local Standard for MV and LV Network designs (Utility corridors as per UCDM, utilizing diversity factors, Cable tray sizing, Duct Bank Sizing, Voltage drop calculations, Cable Sizing)
• Knowledge about Street Lighting Design and Drawing preparation as per ADM Lighting Manual Ver-03 July 2021.
• Prepare section detail drawings for Protection or any clashing location as per TAQA Distribution Asset protection guidelines.
• Prepare Equipment layout for Distribution Substations and Private LV Electrical rooms as per Local Authority standards regarding clearance.
• Prepare Installation details drawings for (FP, ST , Package unit Foundations and relevant section details )
• Prepare Low Voltage power and Lighting Layout, Load schedule and Single line drawings, Meter Schedule as per TAQA Distribution standard shop drawings preparation and submission for Local Authority Approvals.
• Maintain drawing revisions and document control.
• Ability to Quantity take off for the Electrical Infrastructure Items
• Coordinate with civil and mechanical drafting teams to resolve design clashes.
  
  

• Diploma or ITI, Engineering Drafting.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D, NAVISWORK, BIM (preferred), and MS Office.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in electrical drafting for infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with utility coordination and underground cable routes.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to interpret engineering designs and specifications.
