The Director – Strategic Engineering is responsible for establishing and leading a centralized Strategic Engineering division that consolidates engineering expertise across all technical domains within the organization. The role supports the organization’s centralization vision by creating a unified pool of engineering resources to drive efficiency, collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence across entities.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Centralization
Establish and lead the Strategic Engineering division as a centralized hub for engineering capabilities across the organization.
Define and execute a strategic roadmap aligned with the organization’s centralization and innovation objectives.
Integrate engineering resources from all technical domains into a common talent pool to reduce duplication and improve utilization.
Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership on engineering capability planning and deployment.
Resource Governance & Optimization
Develop and implement governance models, operating frameworks, and standardized engineering practices across entities.
Ensure optimal utilization of engineering resources through effective prioritization and deployment.
Drive consistency in engineering methodologies, tools, quality standards, and delivery models.
Cross-Entity Engineering Support
Provide flexible, on-demand engineering expertise to support development, innovation, and transformation initiatives across entities.
Oversee the allocation of engineering resources based on organizational priorities and project requirements.
Enable seamless collaboration between Strategic Engineering and entity-based engineering teams.
Capability Development & Engineering Excellence
Promote knowledge sharing, collaboration, and continuous improvement across engineering disciplines.
Strengthen engineering capability by developing critical technical skills, future-ready competencies, and leadership depth.
Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and engineering excellence across the organization.
Stakeholder Engagement
Partner closely with entity leadership, program owners, and functional heads to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
Serve as the central point of contact for engineering capability management and cross-entity support.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
15+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience in complex, multi-domain environments.
Demonstrated experience in engineering centralization, shared services, or large-scale transformation initiatives.
Strong understanding of engineering governance, resource management, and cross-functional collaboration.
Experience within aerospace, defense, advanced technology, or similarly regulated industries is preferred.
