About The Job

Based at the Emirates palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Sales department, the Director of Sales - Leisure is responsible for directing and executing the Leisure Sales strategy and taking full leadership accountability for all key source markets, while being the main point of contact for the UK and German Markets. The responsibilities include leading the leisure sales team, developing new business, negotiating contracts and maintaining good relations with actual clients in order to meet and exceed the targets on rooms FIT and consistent with the brand image as outlines in the Business Plan. The Director of Sales - Leisure reports to the Director of Commercial Strategy.

As Director of Sales - Leisure, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Create and execute the annual leisure sales strategy, aligning commercial tactics with the hotel's long-term financial and brand objectives
  • Take full ownership of the leisure segment revenue targets, room night production, and ADR goals, delivering accurate monthly and quarterly forecasts
  • Lead, coach, and elevate the performance of the leisure sales team by establishing clear KPIs, conducting performance reviews, and fostering a culture of accountability.
  • Continuously monitor luxury travel trends, competitor positioning, and economic shifts in primary source markets to proactively pivot sales tactics.
  • Organize comprehensive & accurate information to existing and potential customers in regard to the product range offered by the hotel, with the aid of the relevant sales resources and sales channels
  • Maintain good relations with existing and solicit new business production of individuals, groups and conference business from Travel & Trade accounts to meet sales targets.
  • Responsible to develop and acquire new accounts under the Wholesale Segment through contracted partners, local DMC and Tour Operators from source markets.
  • Plan sales activities by identifying potential clients, organizing sales calls and sales blitz to develop new business.
  • Develop relationship between MOAUH and local DMC, Tour Operators and contracted partners
  • Growth the production on rooms from the Wholesale segment
  • Fulfil the weekly and annual sales targets as set for all activities and revenue room night and ADR.
  • Promote and cross sell the sister properties and fulfil G-Leads Sales Monthly target.
  • Oversee, approve, and direct contract negotiations and renewals across all key wholesale to protect and maximize hotel yield.
  • Coordinate with Front office, Banqueting and F&B Department all specific guest requirements from Travel & Trade.
  • To continuously add and update the database of DMC’s, TO’s to ensure implementation.
  • To entertain potential and current clients based on business priorities.
  • Conduct educational trips for existing and potential clients and fulfil the Fam Trip and Sales & Marketing SOP.
  • Achieve monthly budget goals and new business targets.
  • Set up and maintain good working relationships with all other areas of the hotel operations.
  • Follow-up with clients before, during and after the function/ event/ stay to ensure repeat business.
  • Ensure any complaints are handled within 2 working days in accordance with S&M SOP complaint handling.
  • Follow-up leads provided by Global Sales Offices.
  • Research and present lost business reports at the weekly Sales Meetings.
  • Organize major international sales missions, luxury roadshows, and key global trade fairs, delivering post-show reports and ROI analyses to the Director of Commercial Strategy.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks can be added at any time according to the needs of the business and of the hotel.

As Director of Sales - Leisure, we expect from you:

  • Three to four years of previous experience in a similar role within a luxury property; resort experience is an advantage.
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in Leisure Sales, including international leisure markets, luxury travel, and high-end clientele.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving, customer service and professional attitude
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is required; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage.
