Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Support the growth and management of client business for the Energy & Natural Resources (ENR) sector, focusing on Oil, Gas & New Energies (OGNE). The Director will contribute technical expertise in structured financing transactions, financial modelling, presentation materials and credit analysis. The Director will support the Managing Director and Head of OGNE in managing relationships with portfolio clients and bring NTB clients and is expected to work independently to deliver high-quality outputs and client service.

The ENR team is part of FAB’s Wholesale Banking Group which covers the energy value chain. The sector operates in 4 distinct verticals including (i) Oil, Gas & New Energies, (2) Utilities, Power & Renewables, (3) Metals & Mining and (4) Commodity Traders. The team consists of sector specialists across these subsectors.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Technical & Transactional Contribution:

  • Review and analyze complex, structured financing transactions in the OGNE space.
  • Prepare and present well-structured, clear presentations for internal committees and client meetings.
  • Conduct financial modelling and scenario analysis to support transaction structuring and client pitches.
  • Review term sheets and other relevant transaction-related documents, work with the rest of the deal team to identify key strengths and address key weaknesses from a structural and commercial perspective.
  • Ability to understand and explain complex transactions to internal stakeholders as required.

Client and Sector Knowledge:

  • Fully informed regarding the latest developments in the Energy & Natural Resources space with a focus on OGNE.
  • Participate in the financial analysis conducted on clients and their respective industries in the ENR sector to help identify potential opportunities and sector-related risks.

Credit & Risk Analysis

  • Review and analyze financial statements to form a firm view of credit profiles.
  • Proactively work with credit team on all credit submissions with a focus on ensuring that the contribution from the GRM team is punctual and insightful.
  • Identify key credit risks and mitigants, and expand risk analysis to include sanctions, reputational, and ESG risks as necessary.
  • Build strong relationships with peers in the credit team and foster a culture of communication and collaboration.
  • Ensure all credit reviews are submitted on time and agreed conditions are met.

Contribution to Team and Sector Strategy:

  • Support the implementation of the functional strategy and business plans for the ENR sector with a particular focus on OGNE.
  • Collaborate with all sub-sector leads and product teams to identify and execute business opportunities.
  • Keep close interaction with Product teams, and other stakeholders, to maximize business opportunities with clients, and to streamline execution of deals and strategies.
  • Work across all sub-sectors within ENR as and when needed.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Proactively follow up with clients and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of work and client satisfaction.
  • Proactively contribute to originating new opportunities with target OGNE clients across banking products.
  • Examine & resolve credit, market and operational risk aspects of the transactions in collaboration with products and enablement units.
  • Be an industry energy expert and discuss latest developments in the OGNE space with clients.
  • Maintain the credit quality of the clients relationships within the Portfolio to an acceptable level set by the Bank’s management.
  • Achieve individual and team financial performance targets.
  • Identify & develop cross selling opportunities and increase the cross-sell ratio with key clients in the energy space.

Day-to-Day Activities:

  • Assist the Head of OGNE in the day-to-day administrative and transactional activities to ensure continuity of work and the delivery of effective and high-quality outputs.
  • Work independently and demonstrate a proactive approach to picking up work and following through on tasks.
  • Seek opportunities to contribute to team objectives and support colleagues as needed.
  • Manage and follow up on KYC and compliance requirements in order to ensure consistency with the Bank’s KYC and AML policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage more junior resources across ENR, ensuring works is distributed in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ensure all clients’ files /documents are maintained and maintain a satisfactory audit on the portfolio.
  • Ensure call reports are logged into the bank’s systems in a timely manner and include key takeaways and follow-ups.
  • Learning & Development – Attend appropriate on and off-the-job training programs and ensure development and skill upgradation of team members.
  • Ensure that all internal processes for existing portfolio and NTBs are met in line with the Bank’s policies & procedures.
  • Adhere to process KPI’s and, ORM, BCP & Internal Audit requirements.
  • Ensure Account Plans are prepared and maintained for all OGNE clients.

Policies, Systems, Processes, and Procedures:

  • Follow all relevant policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Ensure effective implementation of the WBG functional policies, procedures and controls so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
  • Ensure compliance with KYC, AML, and regulatory requirements.

MIS and Reports:

  • Review and analyze financial statements, MIS and reports to keep track of performance vs. budgets.





Qualifications

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Math; MBA is a positive

Minimum Experience:

  • The successful candidate will have worked in an International Banking environment at management level, preferably in an energy coverage or an energy advisory role for a minimum of 7 years.

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Strong understanding of the energy sector with a focus on OGNE
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; detail-oriented and accurate
  • Strong financial and credit analysis capabilities
  • Strong financial modelling capabilities
  • Familiarity with different financing structures corporate, PF, PXF etc.
  • Strong advisory skills
  • Ability to manage junior staff members as required
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities
  • Committed and dedicated team player, self-motivated high quality/high quantity producer
