JOB DESCRIPTION


The Construction and Logistics Director is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and management of construction and logistics strategies for the planning and development of a large-scale, state-of-the-art data center campus, with accountability for time, cost, safety, and quality.  





The role ensures that all aspects of the programme-wide logistics solutions are proactively coordinated and optimised across all projects within the programme. In addition, to ensure that all construction operations are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. 


RESPONSIBILITIES


Strategy Development and Implementation  




Develop and lead the implementation of construction delivery plans/strategies that support the programme delivery requirements. 




Collaborate with programme management, engineering & development, and project teams to ensure construction timelines and methods support future scalability and modular expansion. 




Create long-term phasing and procurement strategies that align with construction readiness 




Champion a proactive collaboration and co-operation culture across the programme through leadership engagement, workforce empowerment, and behavioural initiatives. 




Project Delivery Execution 




Provide support to the project teams on construction sequencing, milestones, QA/QC, and issue resolution. 




Provide support on the review and validation of contractor project schedules, progress reports and support site and milestone reviews to maintain schedule integrity. 




Construction Logistics Management 




Design end-to-end logistics strategies for addressing programme-wise coordination, access optimisation, deliveries, staging, and general logistics operations 




Create and oversee logistics plans covering vehicle movement, just-in-time delivery, local transport compliance, and restrictions. 




Innovation & Sustainability 




Champion the integration of advanced construction technologies, including digital twins, drone mapping, AI-driven progress tracking, and augmented reality walkthroughs. 




Promote modular, off-site manufacturing, and lean construction strategies to enhance efficiency and lessen on-site labour dependency. 




Oversee green building certification processes (such as LEED or equivalent), focusing on reducing embodied carbon and boosting energy efficiency. 




Advocate for the reusability of materials, water management, and renewable energy use during the construction phase. 




Support circular economy principles, including material reuse, water recycling, and energy-efficient site practices. 




Risk and Quality Management 




Identify, assess, and manage construction risks through robust risk registers; implement mitigation strategies to prevent delays, safety hazards, or time overruns.  




Define and monitor key contractor quality performance KPIs, providing regular reports to programme leadership.  




Ensure that construction activities comply with all relevant safety regulations, codes, and environmental standards.  




Develop and enforce quality control procedures to uphold the highest construction standards.  




Conduct regular site inspections and audits to evaluate quality and compliance specifications 




Stakeholder Management 




Maintain positive working relationships with government departments, utilities, programme and project stakeholders, to ensure mutual support and compliance with delivery requirements. 




Regularly liaise and engage with the programme and project teams to offer support and ensure that project delivery and performance are aligned with the required standards and practices. 







QUALIFICATIONS


Minimum Qualifications: 




Relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent  




Relevant professional qualification or chartered status 




LEED, BIM, or Lean Construction certifications a plus 





Minimum Experience: 




15+ years of relevant professional experience (including previous director role), including the delivery of data centers or other complex engineering projects across the entire project life cycle. 




Proven record managing logistics-heavy builds across borders with hyperscale or high-density technical requirements 





Job-Specific Skills (Generic / Technical): 




Primavera P6, BIM 360, MS Project, AutoCAD, Revit, Procore 




Deep knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations 




Risk management and lifecycle planning 




Strategic leadership and decision-making under pressure 




Cross-functional stakeholder engagement and influence 




Financial and commercial acumen with TCO awareness 




Crisis management, reporting, and governance participation
