Job Description

As a Dialysis Technician, you will play a crucial role in the specialized field of kidney care, providing life-saving dialysis treatment to patients dealing with renal failure. Tasked with operating dialysis machines, you will be responsible for the preparation, operation, and maintenance of these vital machines to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Your role involves preparing patients by verifying their medical history, ensuring they are comfortable during the procedure, and monitoring them for any adverse reactions. Exceptional interpersonal skills are required to build trusting relationships with patients and their families. You will work collaboratively with nurses and nephrologists to develop individualized treatment plans, carry out physician orders, and accurately document patient data to ensure compliance with health regulations. A compassionate, detail-oriented approach combined with technical proficiency is essential for success in this role. Maintaining a sterile environment and managing high-pressure situations are critical aspects, ensuring each patient's safety and wellbeing during the treatment process.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare dialysis machines by initiating priming procedures and performing sterilization processes.
  • Verify patient information and confirm dialysis prescription in advance of each session.
  • Conduct pre-dialysis assessments, including monitoring vital signs such as blood pressure.
  • Provide patient guidance on dialysis process and respond to their questions and concerns.
  • Administer dialysis treatment under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
  • Monitor patients closely for any adverse reactions during and after dialysis treatment.
  • Accurately document treatment data including ultrafiltration rates and vital statistics.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot dialysis machines to ensure they are functioning correctly.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitized treatment environment following healthcare safety standards.
  • Provide immediate care and escalate any patient issues to nursing staff or physicians.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to customize patient care and treatment plans.
  • Engage in ongoing training to stay updated with dialysis techniques and practices.


Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, plus a certified dialysis technician program completion.
  • Previous experience working in a clinical setting is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining dialysis equipment and machinery.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for accurate patient data management.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to all safety guidelines.
