Dewatering Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Site Engineer to join our Drilling Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the daily supervision and execution of drilling operations, including water wells, cathodic protection wells, earth holes, and dewatering wells. This role requires a strong presence on-site to manage drilling rigs, ensure borehole quality, and coordinate logistics to meet project timelines.

Key Responsibilities 

1. Drilling Rig Supervision & Operations

• Direct supervision of drilling crews and rig operators on-site. Ensure rigs are set up correctly and operated safely.

• Oversee various drilling methods (e.g., Rotary Mud, DTH, Reverse Circulation) suitable for Water Wells, Cathodic Protection (CP) wells, and Dewatering wells.

• Manage the supply of drilling fluids (bentonite/polymers), water, fuel, and casing materials to ensure uninterrupted operations.

• Ensure holes are drilled to the correct depth, diameter, and verticality as per the design specifications.

2. Well Installation & Quality Control

• Supervise the installation of well casings (PVC/Steel), well screens, and gravel packing operations.

• Supervise the drilling of deep anode beds, installation of anodes, cabling, and carbon backfilling (coke breeze) in accordance with CP designs.

• Oversee well development (airlifting/surging) to clear the well and supervise pumping tests to verify yield and capacity.

• Maintain accurate daily drilling logs (lithology descriptions, penetration rates, material usage) and submit them to the project manager.

3. Safety & Compliance

• Strictly enforce safety protocols around rotating machinery and heavy equipment. Conduct toolbox talks for drilling crews.

• Ensure all site activities comply with Dubai Municipality environmental and safety regulations (especially regarding mud disposal and groundwater protection).

• Solve immediate on-site problems such as loss of circulation, stuck pipe incidents, or equipment breakdowns.

Requirements

1. Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Petroleum Engineering.

2. Experience

• Minimum 3 years of site-based experience specifically in drilling operations (Water Wells, Dewatering Wells, or Cathodic Protection drilling).

• Experience managing drilling rigs, compressors, and mud pumps is essential.

3. Skills

• Deep understanding of drilling mechanics, mud engineering (drilling fluids), and borehole stabilization.

• Proficiency in creating Daily Drilling Reports (DDR) and borehole logs.

• Ability to manage drilling crews, subcontractors, and site logistics effectively.

• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel for logs) and basic AutoCAD (for as-built locations).

4. Languages

• The working language is English. Fluency in English is required.

• The multilingual candidate is preferred (especially in Arabic or Chinese or both).

5. Soft Skills

• Strong leadership skills to manage labour and operators.

• High adaptability to harsh outdoor site conditions.

• Excellent time management to meet drilling targets.
