THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Senior Design Manager, the Design Manager will be required to provide input to the senior management on design delivery related matters and be fully responsible for the successful delivery of their assigned services and/or project component, for the duration of the Services. The Design Manager will work in coordination with the project management team to ensure the projects design stage objectives are met.

Project Description

As a member of our Project Management Consultant (PMC) team, youll oversee a diverse portfolio of projects that contribute to Abu Dhabis growth. This includes developing essential infrastructure like transportation networks and utilities, alongside public spaces that improve connectivity throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Youll also play a role in shaping thriving communities by managing the development of residential housing projects. In short, this PMC role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact on Abu Dhabis built environment.

Main Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the Villa and infrastructure design production process, by managing numerous Consultants and Contractors, to ensure the overall design is aligned to and directly supports the achievement of program’s strategic objectives
• Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to manage the design and its approval, across the project stakeholders
• Assist in the preparation of a detailed project plan, as part of the Project Management Plan, for the asset or infrastructure design phases of the program
• Manage the day-to-day Villa and infrastructure design monitoring activities and resources and actively participate in the design team meetings
• Provide technical input day-to-day Villa and infrastructure design activities and actively participate and chair in the design team meetings.
• Carry out design review and provide comments for resolution.
• Ensure that all Villa and infrastructure design related project KPIs, targets, directions and instructions are communicated to all relevant project stakeholders in a clear and timely manner
• Provide status reporting regarding infrastructure design milestones, deliverable, dependencies, risks and issues, communicating across leadership
• Participate and/or drive feasibility studies, vendor selections and proposals for evaluation by appropriate key stakeholders
• Act as an internal quality control check for the infrastructure design documentation
• Ensure the design process recognizes current UAE legislation, standards and codes of practice where appropriate
• Ensure that designs are proceeding according to scope, schedule, budget and quality standards
• Manage design issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline program
• Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods and techniques
• Manage technical issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline program
• Resolve technical challenges by finding innovative solutions whilst controlling the costs
• Managing technical changes to the project scope in alignment with the established change management procedures
• Capture and share lessons learned to improve projects across the portfolio
• Effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, within the project team, the Client organisation, and across other projects
  
  

• BSc, engineering, architecture or equivalent
• Design of Villa and infrastructure projects within a Consulting environment.
• Minimum of 15 years overall experience
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role
• Minimum of 5 years working in Middle East
• Thorough understanding of authority regulations
• Ability to interrogate load demand calculations.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD and other industry standard software as applicable to role
• Exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
• A high standard of spoken and written English, Arabic speaking advantageous.
