Job Description

The Demand & Supply Planner in the Retail sector plays a crucial role in ensuring that products are available in the right quantities, at the right locations, and at the right times to meet customer demand. This position entails analyzing sales trends, forecasting demand, and coordinating inventory levels with supply chain teams to optimize stock levels. By evaluating data and utilizing forecasting models, the Demand & Supply Planner develops strategic plans that drive the company’s product availability and performance in the market. The role requires strong analytical skills and an in-depth understanding of retail dynamics to anticipate market trends and adjust supply plans accordingly. Effective communication is vital as this role collaborates closely with procurement, sales, and logistics teams to align operations with business goals.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze historical sales and market trends to predict future demand accurately.
  • Develop demand forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons.
  • Coordinate with supply chain operations to ensure timely product availability at retail locations.
  • Monitor inventory levels and initiate actions to optimize stock to prevent overstock or stockouts.
  • Evaluate the impact of promotional activities on demand projections and supply plans.
  • Collaborate with procurement to secure necessary materials in alignment with demand forecasts.
  • Utilize statistical models to create and update effective forecasting and planning metrics.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance forecasting accuracy and supply chain efficiency.
  • Prepare and present supply and demand analyses to stakeholders and management teams.
  • Maintain and update accurate documentation and records of all forecasting and supply planning activities.
  • Develop strategic partnership initiatives to align inventory policies with cross-functional teams.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to guide business decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in demand planning or related fields.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and manipulate large datasets.
  • Proficiency in demand planning software such as SAP APO, Kinaxis, or equivalent tools.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal to interact with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of retail market trends and experience in a consumer goods environment is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
