As a CSSD Technician, you are entrusted with the crucial role of ensuring the proper sterilization and management of medical instruments and equipment necessary for the effective functioning of healthcare facilities. Your responsibility will include the sterilization processes such as decontamination, cleaning, assembling, packaging, and the maintenance of sterile storage areas. Furthermore, you'll be in charge of tracking inventory and meeting compliance with health and safety regulations, which are vital to preventing infection and maintaining the quality standards set by the healthcare facility. This role requires high attention to detail, a commitment to safety and hygiene standards, and the ability to effectively collaborate with medical staff. Adaptability, proactive communication skills, and a dedication to continuous learning are essential to keep up with advancements in sterilization techniques and equipment. As a critical part of the healthcare team, your contributions directly impact patient safety and care quality, making this position both demanding and rewarding.


Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough cleaning and decontamination of medical instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure that sterilizing equipment is functioning correctly and efficiently used.
  • Package, label, and assemble medical instruments, ensuring correct sterilization process.
  • Regularly check and maintain the equipment used in the sterilization process.
  • Follow infection control and safety procedures strictly at all times.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization activities and inventory supplies.
  • Monitor the sterile storage area for safety and functionality requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with medical staff to manage instrument needs and availability.
  • Participate in training and development to stay current in sterilization methods.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and other issues to management promptly.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering supplies when necessary for operations.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives to uphold the hospital’s standards and regulations.


Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education is required for this position.
  • Certification in Central Sterile Processing or related field preferred.
  • At least one year of experience working in a CSSD or similar environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sterilization and infection control standards necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safety protocols.
  • Effective communication skills required for interacting with medical staff.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks as needed.
  • Proficient in using sterilization equipment and basic computer applications.
  • Adept at multitasking and managing time efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to undergo additional training as required by hospital policies.
