Job Description

The Credit Control Manager is a pivotal role responsible for managing a company's credit policy to minimize financial risk while maximizing customer retention and revenue. This role involves overseeing the credit assessment process, setting credit limits, and monitoring outstanding balances to ensure timely payments. The manager must work closely with sales and finance departments to align credit operations with business objectives. With a sharp analytical mind, the Credit Control Manager evaluates credit applications, manages accounts receivable, resolves credit issues, and maintains customer relations. This position requires a strategic thinker who can communicate effectively with stakeholders, ensuring efficient debt recovery processes without compromising customer relationships.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire credit control process, ensuring timely collection of debts.
  • Assess credit applications and authorize limits based on risk assessments.
  • Regularly review and update the company’s credit policy to mitigate risks.
  • Coordinate with sales and finance teams to streamline credit operations.
  • Analyze customer creditworthiness and authorize credit limits accordingly.
  • Identify accounts that pose a financial risk and recommend actions.
  • Ensure the maintenance of accurate records for all credit transactions.
  • Develop strategies to improve cash flow and reduce bad debt exposure.
  • Manage a team of credit analysts and oversee their performance and development.
  • Negotiate payment plans with clients and ensure compliance with terms.
  • Prepare regular reports on collection activity and outstanding accounts.
  • Engage with customers to resolve any issues with unpaid invoices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in credit control and management of large databases.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with expertise in credit assessment techniques.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective negotiations.
  • Leadership abilities to manage and develop a team of credit professionals.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategies to reduce the risk of bad debts.
  • Proficiency in using credit management software and ERP systems.
