Job Description

As a Credit Control Manager, you will be at the forefront of managing and safeguarding the financial health of the organization by overseeing and enhancing our credit control processes. Your main objective is to ensure the timely payment of debtors while maintaining a good relationship with them. You will harness your analytical skills to assess creditworthiness, set credit limits, and mitigate credit risks. Collaborating closely with finance and sales teams, you will play a key role in optimizing our cash flow and managing accounts receivable. In addition to overseeing a team, you will develop and implement strategies to improve collections, reduce bad debts, and enhance overall financial performance. This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional who can balance assertiveness with customer service excellence.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the credit control department and oversee the credit management process.
  • Review and assess the creditworthiness of potential and existing customers.
  • Set and review credit terms and limits for customers regularly.
  • Ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices from customers.
  • Lead and motivate the credit control team to achieve department goals.
  • Develop and implement effective debt recovery plans and strategies.
  • Identify accounts at risk of becoming bad debt and take necessary action.
  • Collaborate with sales and finance teams for streamlined credit operations.
  • Prepare and present regular credit management reports to senior management.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure trust and reliability.
  • Monitor changes in the economy and industry affecting clients’ creditworthiness.
  • Ensure compliance with credit policies and legal regulations at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Credit Control Manager or similar senior role.
  • Strong understanding of credit and risk management principles.
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience with financial software and databases.
  • Outstanding negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle challenging situations calmly.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing a successful team.
