Job Description

A Crane Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of cranes to ensure they are operating safely and efficiently. This role demands a high degree of technical aptitude, knowledge of crane operations, and the capacity to identify and rectify mechanical issues swiftly. The Crane Technician works in various environments, including construction sites, factories, and shipping yards, and must adhere to safety regulations and guidelines strictly. This position is critical in supporting the operation of cranes, which are pivotal in lifting and moving heavy materials. As part of the maintenance team, the Crane Technician plays a key role in minimizing downtime and enhancing the operational lifespan of crane equipment through preventive and corrective maintenance activities.


Responsibilities

  • Perform regular inspections of cranes to ensure efficient and safe operation.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in crane equipment.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary breakdowns and service interruptions.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repairs for compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other technicians and site supervisors to optimize maintenance schedules.
  • Test crane operations post-maintenance to confirm their ability to perform safely.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to crane operators as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company safety guidelines at all sites.
  • Order necessary parts and supplies needed for crane maintenance and repairs.
  • Implement upgrades and modifications to cranes as directed by engineering specifications.
  • Train new technicians on equipment maintenance and repair protocols.
  • Participate in safety training sessions and emergency preparedness activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in crane maintenance or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in cranes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints effectively.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the capacity to solve complex mechanical problems.
  • Strong attention to detail with commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to multiple work sites as required.
