Job Description

The Consultant – Health and Safety position is a vital role that involves ensuring health and safety protocols are effectively implemented across various environments. This professional will play a significant role in minimizing workplace risks by developing strategic plans, enforcing compliance measures, and promoting a safe culture within the organization. As a Consultant – Health and Safety, you will work closely with management teams to audit, assess and update safety policies, manage safety programs, and conduct training to ensure all employees adhere to regulations. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of federal and state regulations related to health and safety practices. An ideal candidate can communicate effectively and build strong relationships at all organizational levels, ensuring that everyone is engaged in maintaining a safe workplace.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health and safety plans in the workplace.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments in various settings.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on safety procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Create comprehensive health and safety reports for management review.
  • Advise management on safety-related issues and improvements needed.
  • Monitor and update safety policies, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Coordinate emergency response drills and safety-based exercises regularly.
  • Collaborate with external regulatory agencies for site inspections and certifications.
  • Keep up-to-date with new legislation and best practices concerning health and safety.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through communications and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in safety management, environmental health, or related field.
  • Professional certification such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a health and safety role.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to conduct risk assessments and implement effective safety programs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for training and presentations.
