Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant Cardiovascular Surgeon ( Australian Board Qualified) to join our University Healthcare Facility. The successful candidate will provide expert surgical management for patients with cardiovascular diseases, perform complex cardiac and vascular procedures, and contribute to clinical excellence, education, and research activities within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage patients with complex cardiovascular and thoracic conditions requiring surgical intervention.
• Perform advanced cardiovascular surgical procedures including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair and replacement, vascular procedures, and other cardiac surgeries.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, review diagnostic investigations, and develop appropriate surgical treatment plans.
• Provide pre-operative evaluation, surgical planning, and post-operative management for cardiac surgery patients.
• Manage emergency cardiovascular surgical cases and provide timely clinical decision-making.
• Collaborate closely with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, perfusionists, and multidisciplinary cardiac teams.
• Participate in cardiac case discussions, clinical governance meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with hospital policies and international healthcare standards.
• Support clinical training, supervision, and mentoring of junior medical staff and surgical trainees.
• Participate in research, academic activities, and continuous improvement of cardiovascular surgery services.

Requirements
• Completion of accredited Cardiothoracic/Cardiovascular Surgery residency and fellowship training.
• UK CCT, American Board Certification, Australian Board Certification, South African Board Certification, or equivalent Western qualification in Cardiovascular Surgery.
• Minimum 5–10 years of post-qualification experience as a Consultant Cardiovascular Surgeon in a tertiary hospital or university healthcare facility.
• Proven expertise in complex cardiac and vascular surgical procedures.
• Experience in multidisciplinary cardiac care programs is preferred.
• Eligible for medical licensing with relevant GCC healthcare authorities.
• Strong leadership, communication, and surgical decision-making skills.
