Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Commis I to join our bustling kitchen team. As a Commis I, you will play a crucial role in assisting our chefs in preparing high-quality dishes to delight our customers. You will be responsible for assisting in all areas of the kitchen, ensuring the highest food quality and cleanliness are maintained at all times. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the culinary arts and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will be expected to support the senior kitchen team in executing daily kitchen operations. Working with a collaborative mind and attention to detail, you'll help elevate our culinary offerings and ensure a memorable dining experience for our patrons.


Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items as directed by the Chef de Partie.
  • Consistently follow recipes and presentation standards to ensure quality dishes.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of all kitchen workstations at all times.
  • Assist with the checking and receiving of deliveries, ensuring accuracy and quality of supplies.
  • Ensure that all food is stored safely and that stock rotation is followed to eliminate wastage.
  • Promptly report any kitchen equipment maintenance or safety issues to the Chef in charge.
  • Participate actively in daily kitchen briefings and provide feedback on kitchen operations.
  • Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in completing special tasks when required.
  • Adhere to all health and safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other team members to ensure smooth kitchen operation.
  • Assist in creating new dishes and improving existing menu items where appropriate.
  • Participate in training sessions to improve culinary skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a kitchen environment or a relevant culinary qualification.
  • Solid understanding of basic cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • Adept at following instructions and implementing feedback from senior chefs.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • A passion for the culinary arts and a drive to improve and learn.
