Job Description

A Commis I is an essential part of the culinary team in a professional kitchen, tasked with assisting chefs in preparing and presenting food dishes to high standards. Responsibilities

  • Assist senior chefs in preparing ingredients and executing dishes with precision.

  • Adhere to food safety regulations to prevent contamination and spoilage.
  • Manage inventory levels by reporting stock shortages and ordering supplies timely.
  • Participate in daily kitchen operations, supporting the team during peak service hours.
  • Execute basic cooking tasks such as chopping, marinating, and seasoning ingredients.
  • Support in plating dishes with accuracy and ensuring presentation standards.
  • Preparation of kitchen equipment, including sharpening knives and restocking stations.
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve kitchen quality and efficiency goals.
  • Engage in continuous learning to enhance culinary skills and knowledge development.
  • Assist in inventory checks, helping to maintain efficient resource management.
  • Contribute feedback to improve menu items and customer satisfaction levels.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent culinary training certification is required.
  • Previous experience in a high-volume kitchen environment is advantageous.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with kitchen staff.
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high culinary standards.
