JOB PURPOSE:

Support ADNOC Drilling’s commercial objectives by leading the commercial structuring, analysis, negotiation, and execution of drilling-related contracts, agreements, and commercial frameworks, focusing on value optimization, risk management, and contractual integrity across drilling operations and growth initiatives.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Job Specific Accountabilities

  • Support the VP Commercial in implementing ADNOC Drilling’s commercial strategy across drilling contracts, service agreements, and related commercial arrangements.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into commercially robust contract structures aligned with ADNOC governance and risk appetite.
  • Provide commercial input to strategic initiatives, tenders, and business development opportunities in coordination with internal stakeholders.
  • Lead and support commercial negotiations with clients, partners, and suppliers to secure optimal commercial terms.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, amendments, and commercial frameworks in coordination with Legal and Procurement.
  • Ensure contracts balance commercial value, risk allocation, and operational practicality.
  • Conduct detailed commercial, financial, and risk analyses to support decision-making.
  • Evaluate pricing models, cost structures, escalation mechanisms, incentives, and penalties.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance margins, improve cash flow, and mitigate commercial exposure.
  • Ensure full compliance with ADNOC Group policies, commercial authorities, and governance frameworks.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks throughout the contract lifecycle, from pre-award to execution and close-out.
  • Support audits, management reviews, and internal assurance processes related to commercial matters.
  • Act as a key commercial interface between Operations, Finance, Legal, Procurement, and Business Development.
  • Provide commercial guidance and mentoring to Commercial Specialists and Officers as required (without direct line-management responsibility).
  • Prepare high-quality commercial briefs, approvals, and presentations for senior management.
  • Comply with all UAE, ADNOC, ADNOC Drilling and client Asset Integrity Management codes of practice.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, Economics, or Law
  • MBA or professional commercial qualification (preferred)

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

  • 12 years of progressive commercial experience, preferably in oil & gas, drilling, energy services, or large EPC/service environments
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation, commercial analysis, and complex contractual frameworks
  • Experience working within large, regulated organizations with strong governance (ADNOC or similar preferred)
  • Strong understanding of oil & gas drilling commercial models
  • Solid grounding in contract law principles, pricing mechanisms, and risk allocation
  • Advanced financial and commercial analysis skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to balance commercial rigor with business pragmatism
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to operate independently with sound judgment and professionalism
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in specialised applicable software packages like SAP, etc.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
