Key Responsibilities

Commercial /Financial Analysis

• Perform detailed analysis of financial and operational performance to identify trends, opportunities, risks and key business drivers.
• Analyse revenue, margins, customer behaviour, product performance, costs and profitability to support commercial decision-making.
• Develop financial models and scenario analyses to assess new initiatives, investments and commercial opportunities.
• Support analysis of key commercial metrics including customer acquisition cost (CAC), lifetime value (LTV), return on investment (ROI), payback periods, margins and profitability.
• Analyse performance by product, customer segment, channel and other relevant business dimensions.
• Perform variance analysis against budget, forecast and prior periods, identifying and clearly explaining the underlying drivers.
• Turn large volumes of financial and operational data into meaningful, actionable business insights.
• Work closely with FP&A to support budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial planning.

Management Reporting 

• Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly management reporting, including performance analysis and commentary.
• Develop dashboards, KPIs and analytical reporting that provide management with clear visibility of business performance.
• Identify emerging trends and proactively highlight areas requiring management attention.
• Move beyond reporting what happened by providing insight into why it happened, what it means for the business, and what actions should be considered.
• Support ad-hoc financial and commercial analysis requested by senior management.

Executive Presentations 

• Prepare high-quality, visually compelling PowerPoint presentations for the Finance, Strategy and Executive Leadership teams.
• Translate complex financial and commercial analysis into clear executive-level messages, charts and visualisations.
• Develop presentation materials for management meetings, Board discussions, strategic reviews and business performance reviews.
• Ensure presentations have a strong narrative and clearly communicate the key message, rather than simply presenting financial data.
• Maintain consistently high standards of presentation design, formatting, accuracy and visual communication.
• Help establish templates and presentation standards across Finance to improve the quality and consistency of management reporting.

Business Partnering

• Work closely with Finance, Commercial, Marketing, Strategy, Product and other functions to understand business performance and key commercial drivers.
• Challenge assumptions constructively and provide fact-based analysis to support decision-making.
• Support business cases for new products, initiatives, investments and strategic opportunities.
• Develop a strong understanding of the underlying business model and use financial analysis to influence commercial decisions.
• Act as a bridge between detailed financial/data analysis and senior management decision-making.

 Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Data Analytics or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in FP&A, commercial finance, financial analysis, business analysis or a similar analytical role.
• Exceptional numerical and analytical skills with the ability to work confidently with large and complex datasets.
• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling, scenario analysis and manipulation of large datasets.
• Advanced PowerPoint skills, with demonstrated ability to create professional, visually engaging and executive-quality presentations.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and commercial KPIs.
• Ability to transform complex analysis into simple, clear and actionable insights.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

What Success Looks Like

• Success in this role means providing management with analysis that improves decision-making.
• The Commercial Finance Analyst should not simply produce reports. They should be able to take financial and operational data, identify the commercial story behind the numbers, communicate it clearly and visually, and help management determine what action should be taken next.
