Job Description

The Civil Inspector 14M26 plays a crucial role in ensuring that construction and civil engineering projects comply with codes, safety standards, and approved specifications. This key position involves the oversight and inspection of construction sites to verify that they meet the outlined project requirements and that all work is performed according to plans. As a Civil Inspector, you will work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors, offering your technical knowledge and keen attention to detail. You must be capable of identifying discrepancies swiftly while also documenting and communicating your findings effectively. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget, without compromising on quality or safety.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct onsite inspections to verify work is executed according to project specifications.
  • Review plans and specifications, ensuring compliance with industry codes and best practices.
  • Communicate with contractors to clarify deviations and resolve potential issues.
  • Prepare detailed reports of inspections, highlighting deviations from set standards.
  • Ensure that corrective actions are taken promptly when required during inspections.
  • Monitor ongoing construction activities, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with engineers and project managers for effective problem resolution.
  • Remain up-to-date with construction codes and changes in industry regulations.
  • Assist in the development and updates of inspection plans and procedures.
  • Verify that materials used comply with project requirements and standards.
  • Provide input to project management concerning design improvements and safety adjustments.
  • Organize and maintain records of all inspection activities and outcomes for future reference.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in civil inspection or related construction roles.
  • Strong knowledge of construction standards, codes, and best industry practices.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective personnel and client interactions.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and plans.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills for efficient problem-solving.
  • Certification in construction inspection or quality control is highly desirable.
