Job Description

The Civil Foreman is a pivotal role within the construction sector, responsible for overseeing and coordinating the work of construction crews on job sites. The role requires a detail-oriented and safety-driven individual with a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, construction processes, and project management. The Civil Foreman will ensure each project is completed efficiently, safely, and within budget. In this capacity, the person will serve as a link between construction workers and the project management team, ensuring clear communication and that company standards and governmental regulations are met. The Civil Foreman will also be involved in preparing schedules, delegating tasks, and monitoring progress to guarantee that the highest standards of quality are achieved. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, problem-solving abilities, and a proactive approach to managing and overcoming the challenges inherent in large-scale construction projects.


Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of construction workers and laborers on-site.
  • Ensure all work is completed as per the project's specifications and safety standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and construction plans to guide construction teams effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including worker attendance and project progress.
  • Communicate regularly with project managers to report on project status and challenges.
  • Schedule workers and assign tasks based on project phase requirements and individual skills.
  • Inspect work sites daily to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Train and mentor junior staff to foster a skilled and safety-conscious workforce.
  • Identify resource needs and communicate these to management to prevent delays.
  • Oversee the proper handling and maintenance of tools and equipment on-site.
  • Resolve any on-site conflicts between workers promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure all construction activities adhere to local building codes and regulations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role in construction.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering principles and construction safety protocols.
  • Proven ability to read and comprehend technical blueprints and drawings.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with a focus on safety.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for diverse work environments.
  • Capability to handle physical work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Certification in construction safety or project management will be advantageous.
  • Proficient in using construction management software and basic IT tools.
