  • Specifically, accountable for the administration, performance management and financial management of the organisation nursing / midwifery services, with a particular focus on quality, risk management and patient safety
  • Responsible for providing strategic leadership to the CEO and Executive Team on issues relating to the Nursing and Midwifery workforce .
  • Actively participates in and supports a collaborative patient care model .
  • Impart specialist knowledge and experience, of nursing / midwifery and general healthcare services, to assist the Executive Team in meeting strategic plans/business plan .
  • Work closely with the Executive team to implement and maintain systems for corporate and clinical governance
  • Where appropriate and under the direction of the CEO to take lead responsibility for corporate issues outside the immediate sphere of responsibility .
  • Working closely with the Executive Nursing / Midwifery Team and Director of Human Resources develop and implement effective workforce plans, recruitment and retention strategies for nursing and midwifery .
  • Collaborates and leads as appropriate with nursing staff, inter-disciplinary and Executive teams within the organisation, and with external stakeholders, to improve the standards of care .
  • Implements systems and/or processes to advance professional nursing and midwifery practice
  • Ensure that nursing/midwifery staff have the knowledge and skills to meet the requirements of their clinical and managerial roles .
  • Fosters a positive culture within nursing and midwifery that values continuing professional development and striving for excellence in the delivering of patient care
  • Provides leadership to facilitate the development of research and evaluation in all aspects of the care delivery system and ensure its application to practice across the nursing and midwifery professions .
  • Develops relationships internally and externally, working collaboratively with local health service providers, SEHA, community forums, HA-AD, Ministry of Health and other nursing professional bodies .
  • Manages organisational relationships in a way that builds and maintains a climate of trust and inspires commitment from others to achieve organisation goals in a complex environment .
  • Represents the organization nationally and internationally. This may include participating in and/or leading working groups/committees, public speaking engagements .

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring that all duties and responsibilities of this posititon are carried out in compliance with Health and Safety at Work best practice .

  • The CNO of Nursing will also be expected to contribute to the wider corporate and organisational development needs as appropriate within scope of practice .
  • The CNO will be expected to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Health and Safety regulations of the hospital .
  • Upholds the organization customer service standards at all times
  • Adheres to the guiding principles and values inherent in the SEHA NMoC

Qualifications

Required :

  • NLT 10 years clinical experience post qualification AND
  • NLT 3 years in a DON position OR 5 years in A/DON Position (relevant certified PhD degree will account as 3 years of Experience)
  • UAE Nurses: NLT 10 years clinical experience post qualification, NLT 2 years in a DON position OR 4 years in A/DON or ADON position. (relevant certified PhD degree will account as 3 years of Experience)

  • AND MSc in Nursing/Healthcare or management or administration

  • AND valid/current national license
  • AND BLS
