Job Description

A CCTV Technician is a skilled professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems used in surveillance and security. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the safety and security of sensitive areas by effectively monitoring surveillance systems to deter intrusions, thefts, or other potential security breaches. The role demands keen attention to detail, technical expertise in handling various CCTV technologies, and an understanding of networking and data management. Whether working in residential buildings, commercial establishments, or public spaces, CCTV Technicians are instrumental in upholding security protocols and ensuring that surveillance systems are always operational and running efficiently.


Responsibilities

  • Install CCTV systems in accordance with company and industry standards and requirements.
  • Perform regular maintenance checks and updates on CCTV equipment for optimal performance.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and repair work on CCTV systems and related components.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients regarding CCTV systems and equipment.
  • Collaborate with security staff to determine CCTV placement and coverage needs.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding surveillance operations.
  • Upgrade systems as necessary to ensure the latest technology and features are utilized.
  • Maintain thorough records of installations, maintenance checks, and repairs conducted.
  • Assess and resolve issues in networking systems related to CCTV operations.
  • Test and configure software and hardware for optimal CCTV system performance.
  • Evaluate security features and recommend necessary enhancements or updates.
  • Train users on system operations, ensuring they understand system capabilities and boundaries.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; technical degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in installation and maintenance of CCTV systems.
  • Strong knowledge of various CCTV technologies and installation techniques.
  • Proficient in data networking and system configuration related to video surveillance.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to conduct repairs efficiently.
  • Understanding of safety and regulation compliance concerning CCTV systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills to assist clients effectively.
