A Cath Lab Technician is integral to the cardiovascular healthcare team, specializing in the administration of catheterization procedures used for diagnostic and interventional cardiac care. The technician assists cardiologists during various cardiac procedures such as angioplasties, valvuloplasties, and stenting. Their role requires a thorough understanding of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, as well as proficiency in operating specialized medical equipment used to view the heart and its blood vessels. A Cath Lab Technician must possess excellent attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work under pressure in high-stress environments to ensure patient safety and procedure efficacy. Responsibilities

• Assist cardiologists in the preparation and execution of cardiac catheterization procedures.
• Operate and monitor specialized equipment including fluoroscopes and recording devices.
• Prepare and maintain sterile conditions in the catheterization laboratory environment.
• Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses during procedures to ensure patient safety.
• Administer contrast media and observe its passage through cardiac structures for diagnostic purposes.
• Record and report critical data and findings during and after catheterization procedures.
• Provide patient care before, during, and after catheterization procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
• Educate patients and families about procedures, expectations, and post-procedural care instructions.
• Ensure the proper functioning of all laboratory equipment through regular maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Stay informed about technological advances in cardiac care and apply best practices routinely.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in Cardiovascular Technology or a related field is required.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Proven experience as a Cath Lab Technician or similar healthcare role preferred.
• Strong technical skills and experience with cardiac catheterization technology and equipment.
• Excellent communication skills for interactions with patients and medical staff.
• Ability to perform effectively under pressure in emergency and high-stress situations.
