This position is responsible for supporting the MRM team with the day-to-day departmental activities which may include enterprise-wide exercises aimed at assessment of model risk, supporting model governance activities and independent model validation.
The role will include supporting the MRM deal with the tracking and delivery of model validation projects and following up on model governance aspects.
The role requires foundation-level analytical capabilities, communication, and interaction with all key stakeholders within the bank.
The role requires robust quantitative skills, independent thinking and articulate communication skills to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders within Group Risk.
The role holder will be required to have a keen eye for detail and a strong appetite to learn and be tested in different areas.
A sound work ethic and desire for self-development are essential for success.
Key accountabilities / responsibilities:
Providing proactive support to MRM team on all required matters. Over time, and with appropriate training, the role holder should assist with:
embedding a culture of improved risk decision making and accountability
implementing MRM initiatives and tracking delivery
supporting with the preparation of materials and analyses for committee reporting and risk oversight purposes
learn the principles of and provide support across key areas of MRM, including model inventory management, supporting model validation, following up on model risk issues and findings.
Monitoring adherence to the organization’s model risk appetite
Liaison with other internal and external stakeholders
Developing corresponding communication requirements for new and updated policy documents and working with communication partners in developing communication plans
Operating a MI and reporting mechanism to demonstrate governance of policy and control frameworks, awareness of compliance against risk appetite and reporting
Enhancing and executing ongoing model monitoring and model validation codes and reports
Regular review of the model risk inventory, support in identification of models, updating the model risk tiering and coordinating with stakeholders to ensure timely submission model risk reports and monitoring results.
Following up with governance aspects of model risk management activities and model lifecycle components
Specialist skills / technical knowledge required for this role (education & experience):
Excellent Communication skills.
Highly self-motivated and ability to learn rapidly
Strong problem solving, analytical (including qualitative analysis), research, and quantitative skills
Computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite, R or Python or SAS)
Relevant degree in Quantitative aspects such as Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, etc.
