The Assistant Technician supports the testing and evaluation of new, prototype, experimental, modified, and production weapons. The role assists in mechanical work, routine inspections, and preparation of weapons and equipment for evaluation, ensuring accurate data collection, safety compliance, and operational efficiency. The role also provides technical support during tests, events, and demonstrations, ensuring proper handling, maintenance, and documentation.
Assist in performing tests of weapons to produce reliable and precise data for scientific assessment.
Participate in daily testing safety meetings to ensure all team members follow safety conditions, procedures, and protocols.
Conduct mock-up checks on products under development to confirm acceptable ergonomics and functional design.
Support the Accessories Testing Group in evaluating accessory products and their impact on weapon dynamics.
Assist engineers and technicians during prototyping and testing of new products, including cutting, grinding, metal forming, lathe work, mill work, and drilling.
Mechanical Work & Maintenance:
Assist with mechanical work such as replacing worn parts for evaluation testing purposes.
Perform preventive maintenance on department/test units, including cleaning, lubrication, and part replacement.
Maintain and service weapons during testing, preparation, and breakdown for pre-production, production, and side-by-side evaluations.
Technical Documentation & Reporting:
Carefully and accurately evaluate, document, and quantify all areas of performance for prototype, pre-production, and production weapons.
Prepare written testing protocols, documentation, and evaluations as required.
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Support Caracal’s events, focus groups, demonstrations, and consumer research activities when required.
Assist Caracal Business Development in preparing technical information and videos to present product advantages.
Coordinate with other departments throughout the testing process to ensure smooth evaluation and reporting.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and SOPs.
Maintain proper handling of weapons, accessories, and test equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
Qualifications and Experience:Education:
Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Production) or related technical discipline.
Experience:
1–3 years of experience in weapons testing or a technical test lab environment.
Experience interpreting written testing protocols and reporting detailed results.
Understanding of computer-aided design, metalworking operations, and mechanical testing.
Familiarity with military standards, weapon requirements, and test procedures.

Strong manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
